Making music, developing ideas and creating together.
My artistic practice spans composition, songwriting, vocals, music production, performance and interdisciplinary collaboration.
I'm interested in music that explores identity, language, culture, belonging and social change, as well as the creative possibilities that come from working with others.
I work across original music and collaborative projects, sometimes taking the lead in developing and producing ideas, and sometimes working alongside other musicians, producers and creative collaborators.
Steeljoy
My current musical project, performing as a three-piece band of women and non-binary musicians.
Debut album All Us On Fire (2024) explores misogyny, gender, class, discrimination, climate change and hope through original songs in English and Irish (Gaeilge).
Supported by Creative Scotland and Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the album received national and international radio support and playlisting, and was longlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) Award.
Rise Up!
I conceived and brought together 18 women and non-binary artists from across Scotland to create Rise Up! (On Her Shoulders / Ar A Guaillí / Air A Guailnean) creating a trilingual collaborative single, music video and documentary, celebrating collective creativity and HERStory representation.
Playing With Sound
A collaborative programme I co-created with Ana Alonso Curbelo and continue to steward through Music Broth, supporting women and non-binary music producers.
Through shared learning and collaborative production, the group have developed their own creative practice and self-produced music. They are currently creating the original soundtrack and foley for Dè Thuirt Sibh?, a new Gaelic and Irish (Gaeilge) animated short film supported by Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
Interdisciplinary collaborations
Cailleach - An ongoing musical project exploring Irish language and heritage through original songwriting and contemporary interpretations of historical music in Gaelic, English, and Irish (Gaeilge).
Currently co-working with composer JP Waksman on new interdisciplinary music projects, exploring new creative possibilities through our collaborative sound.
